Join Viola Buitoni as she shares the colorful story that is her iconic culinary heritage. Weaving threads of family, love, pasta and chocolate, she’ll describe how her industrious relatives turned Perugina from an exclusive confectionery shop in the heart of the Umbrian capital to the worldwide brand it is today.Viola is a sixth generation member of the famed Buitoni pasta & Perugina chocolate family. She was quietly teaching cooking classes on the West Coast when a twist of fate re-connected her with her heritage.  She grew up in Perugia and has fond memories of playing in the Perugina chocolate factory as a child. It was her great uncle, Giovanni Buitoni, who founded the company and his business acumen and marketing know-how were responsible for propelling Perugina to the top of Italy’s confectionery industry. His entrepreneurial spirit also built Buitoni into the pasta and Italian products powerhouse it is known for.Viola first arrived in New York City 25 years ago, but it was only within the last year that she discovered her long lost roots and Perugina discovered its matriarch, alive and well and living in the U.S. See how this serendipitous event led to a new role for Viola as brand ambassador for her beloved Baci Perugina.
