History

Founded in 1985 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2015.

Originally established as a remote branch of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in New York, the Institute became autonomous in 2000, responsible for a vast territory of 16 states in the Midwest, including Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
