Learn how to make hand-made pasta the authentic way Italian people do in Emilia-Romagna! A promotional tasting of the pasta will follow. Presented on the occasion of the 2nd Italian Cuisine Week in the World, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago.

This free demonstration-style workshop on making fresh pasta, with the historical introduction of Massimo Montanari (Food Historian University of Bologna Alma Mater), will be led by the "Marietta" teacher from Casa Artusi, the center dedicated to Italian homecooking which bears the name of Pellegrino Artusi, worldwide known for his "Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well, the first modern Italian cookbook, and often called the father of Italian cuisine.

The Mariette are named after Marietta Sabatini, who was the trusted housekeeper and personal cook of Pellegrino Artusi. Forlimpopoli honors Marietta with the Associazione delle Mariette, an association that promotes home cooking and local traditions in Emilia-Romagna through cooking classes, workshops, and more.

The Second Annual Italian Cuisine Week in the World, which will take place in Chicago this year from November 13 to 18, is coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This special week aims to promote Italian culinary tradition as one of the defining aspects of Italian excellence, in the sense not only of savoir faire but also of savoir vivire. The many gastronomic traditions of Italy are among the most fundamental aspects of Italian identity. The evolution of food production and processing has, over the centuries, constituted a necessary response to the most fundamental of human needs, but more than that, it has come to define the Italian culture and transform the physical landscape, testifying to some of the most distinctive characteristics of Italian society. The Week is organised through a cooperative effort of the network of 296 Italian diplomatic and consular offices and talian Cultural Institutes throughout the world.
