Come celebrate Italian Language in an evening featuring Italian delicacies and music. Allison Lovera and Gabriela Lara will perform a 30 minute violin recital of music from the sountracks of Cinema Paradiso and La vita e' bella. As part of the evening, the Observatory of the Italian Language in Chicago (OLIC), under the auspices of the Italian Consulate General of Italy, will announce the winner of the second Midwest Award for Leadership in the Teaching of the Italian Language and Culture.

OLIC’s Midwest Award for Leadership in the Teaching of the Italian Language and Culture aims at recognizing excellence in the promotion and dissemination of courses of Italian language and culture in the Midwest. The award is designed to recognize the efforts of teachers in promoting the Italian language through the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies, participation of students in excellent programs such as the AP-Italian, relationships and interaction with local communities and organizations.
