Love, What Language Do You Speak?

Please join an international gathering of cultural organizations for a multimedia, multilingual evening of poetry, music, film, and theater in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Suzanne Petri will emcee and provide English language love poems amidst performances co-presented by multiple Chicago cultural institutions.

Germany: “Liebe, welche Sprache sprichst du?“German short film „Pantoffelhelden“ and love poems with harmonica accompaniment, presented by Goethe InstitutItaly: “Amore, che lingua parli?”Recitation of Dante’s Inferno, Canto V, the Paolo and Francesca episode presented by Istituto Italiano di CulturaFrance: "Amour, quelle langue parles-tu?"Excerpt from Corneille’s “Le Cid,” presented by students in the DePaul University Department of FrenchSpain: "¿Amor, qué lenguaje hablas?"Frederico García Lorca’s “Lament for Ignacio Sánchez Mejías” performed by spoken word artist Rey Andújar, presented by Instituto CervantesLithuania: “Meile, kokia kalba kalbi?” Folk song performance by classical singer Ms. Agnė Giedraitytė and Lithuanian “kanklės” (zither like instrument) player Ms. Genė Razumienė
