Scholarships from the Institute - General terms and conditions
Every year, through the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, many Italian schools and linguistic centres put at one’s disposal a conspicuous number of scholarships to study Italian in Italy.
These scholarships usually provide either a free admission or a reduction on the prices of the language courses given in schools, academies and centres offering Italian lessons for foreigners.
Students should look up schools’ own websites to obtain further information about courses and other included services.

Eligibility
To apply for the scholarships, candidates must live in the Insitute’s area of jurisdiction: Colorado, Illlinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
Candidates should look up schools’ own websites to obtain useful information about courses and other included services.

Travel and stay expenses
Travel and stay expenses are to be paid by the assignees, who, when requested, will be assisted during their research in loco for an adequate accommodation by schools, academies and centres offering the scholarship.

Communications with Italian centres
All communications and relationships will be carried out between the assignee student and the centre offering the scholarship, without any intermediation of the Institute.

When and how to apply
It is possible to apply for a scholarship until 60 days before the selected Italian course starting date. The application, complete of written request, resume and possibly a cover letter edited by professors or academic authorities, is to be presented at the Italian Cultural Institute at the following address:

Selection criteria and awarding times
Priority will be given to Italian teachers and students, as well as to those interested in the study of Italian for professional and cultural reasons.
All scholarships will be exclusively awarded according to merit.
Students will be notified about the positive or negative outcome of their application about fifteen days after the submission.

Warnings
The Italian Cultural Institute disclaims any responsibility with regard to the quality of the courses and the services provided at the centre in which students will avail their scholarship.
The Institute finally requires the students to fill out a closing report about their Italian experience, focusing on the didactical and organizational aspects of the centre they attended.
